Modern corsets and style harnesses are soooo wearable! Yes… we are going there! It’s the most reclaimed garment IMO in history, and, in a major way. They have been reimagined as chic, comfortable, and even casual. They are now aligned with female empowerment and self-expression, and when it comes to setting your own compass, I couldn’t agree more.
I’ve been obsessed with them from the moment that I watched Moulin Rouge. To me, it is revolutionary rebelliousness, in a playful way, yet sophisticated. It’s a symbol of a liberated women. When I was starting my life over at the age of 45, I definitely incorporated the corsets & harnesses into my wardrobe. I was literally the only one wearing them at that time, amongst my new circle of friends. I couldn’t get enough of the way it pulled together an outfit!
It ushered my way of style to another level. I started mixing & matching skirts and trousers, with layering, and then even different textures, to achieve the complete style that felt right for me.
I entered Fashion Week as a designer, and created my own fashion harnesses to showcase in my designs… and the audience was thrilled with my collections.
